The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) told the Madras High Court that it will stop using songs and background music from Rajinikanth films in its promotional content.
The submission came during a hearing of a civil suit filed by Sun TV Network, which alleged copyright infringement.
Sun Network argued that CSK used tracks such as Harbour Gang BGM, Mansion Rules BGM, Hukum Reloaded, and Rajinikanth’s dialogue BGMs in its jersey launch video without authorisation. The network, which produced films like Jailer, Jailer 2, and Coolie, claimed ownership of the music composed by Anirudh Ravichander and sought damages of ₹1 crore.
CSK’s counsel PS Raman assured the court that the franchise would refrain from using Rajinikanth’s film music in future promotions. Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy adjourned the case to March 16, allowing CSK to file a counter-affidavit.
