Odisha Police Headquarters in Cuttack suspended Inspector-in-Charge Bijaya Kumar Barik of CRRI Police Station, UPD Cuttack, after vigilance authorities linked him to a corruption case.
According to the official order, authorities initiated disciplinary proceedings against Barik in connection with a vigilance case registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. Moreover, the order emphasised that the suspension was necessary in the interest of public service.
The headquarters placed Barik under suspension with immediate effect by exercising powers under Rule 840 of the PMR-1940. Furthermore, the directive clarified that during the suspension period, Barik will remain under the disciplinary control of the Commissioner of Police, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack.
In addition, the order specified that Barik will receive subsistence allowance (S.A.) and dearness allowance (D.A.) as admissible under Rule 90 of the Orissa Service Code.
