The State Selection Board, Odisha, has successfully conducted the Common PG Entrance Test (CPET-2025), paving the way for admissions into Postgraduate (P.G.) courses across the state.

On June 2, 2025, at 4:00 PM, the much-anticipated State-Wide Merit List for CPET-2025 was officially published on the SAMS PG portal, marking a significant milestone in the admission process for the 2025 academic year.

This year, CPET-2025 witnessed robust participation, with 62,321 applicants registering for the entrance exam. Of these, 56,976 candidates appeared for the test, while 6,345 were absent. The total number of applicants eligible for selection stands at 56,976, competing for 30,802 sanctioned seats across 116 P.G. higher education institutions in Odisha. These figures reflect the growing demand for quality postgraduate education in the state and the competitive nature of the admission process.

Applicants can now access the SAMS PG portal to view their subject-wise and social category-wise ranks, a crucial step in determining their eligibility for preferred courses and institutions. The Higher Education Department has ensured transparency and ease of access, encouraging candidates to check their rankings promptly.

Starting tomorrow, June 3, 2025, and continuing until June 8, 2025, eligible applicants will have the opportunity to participate in the choice filling process. During this period, candidates can select their preferred universities, colleges, and subjects based on the marks secured in the entrance test. This step is pivotal, as it allows aspirants to align their academic and career goals with available opportunities across Odisha’s esteemed institutions.

The Higher Education Department has urged all applicants to visit the official SAMS PG portal regularly and complete the choice filling process within the stipulated timeline. Missing this window could jeopardise candidates’ chances of securing their desired seats. To ensure a smooth experience, the portal is equipped to handle high traffic and provide clear instructions for users.

Looking ahead, the provisional allotment of seats for the first round of the selection process is scheduled to be published on June 13, 2025, at 4:00 PM. This announcement will bring candidates one step closer to securing admission into their chosen P.G. programs, with further rounds to follow as per the approved timeline.

The Higher Education Department emphasised the importance of this phase, stating, “We are committed to ensuring a fair and efficient admission process for all CPET-2025 applicants. Candidates are advised to stay updated via the SAMS PG portal and complete their choice filling diligently to secure their preferred courses and institutions.”

As Odisha continues to strengthen its higher education ecosystem, CPET-2025 serves as a gateway for thousands of students aiming to pursue advanced studies in diverse fields. With the merit list now live and choice filling on the horizon, aspirants are encouraged to act swiftly and strategically to shape their academic futures.
