Bhubaneswar: Passengers arriving at the Biju Patnaik International Airport here have to undergo Covid-19 test right after their arrival as the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to open a testing centre at the airport.
The civic body has said that a testing centre will be operational at the BPIA this (Wednesday) evening. Mandatory thermal screening for all passengers will be conducted upon arrival at the airport.
The symptomatic passengers will be subjected to tests immediately, it added.
Currently, there is no rise in the number of COVID-19 cases in Bhubaneswar and the situation across the State is under control. The trends are similar to that of the previous month. However, we have taken precautionary measures and intensified the enforcement,” said the BMC Commissioner.
He further informed that detailed contact tracing of COVID-19 positive persons in the city has started from yesterday.
Efforts are underway to increase the number of testings. More testings will be conducted in the areas from where COVID cases are being detected, he added.
Police authorities had been advised to ensure strict observance of Covid-19 safety protocols such as mandatory wearing of masks, maintaining physical distancing in public places, including workplaces and educational institutions.
