Rajinikanth’s action thriller Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, has collected an estimated Rs 216 crore net in India in its first six days, according to trade website Sacnilk. While the film opened strong with Rs 65 crore on its release day, collections have gradually slowed, with Tuesday bringing in Rs 9.5 crore.
Despite the decline, Coolie has crossed the Rs 200 crore mark and surpassed Rs 400 crore worldwide, ranking among Rajinikanth’s top-grossing films. However, it still trails other major releases like Saiyaara (Rs 324.75 crore) and Chhaava (Rs 601.57 crore) in India, and has yet to surpass Lokesh Kanagaraj’s previous hits Vikram (Rs 247 crore) and Leo (Rs 341.04 crore).
The film stars Rajinikanth as Deva, a former union leader seeking justice after the death of his friend Rajasekhar (Sathyaraj), and features Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir, Shruti Haasan, Rachita Ram, Upendra, and Aamir Khan in pivotal roles. While reviews have been mixed, Coolie continues to perform well at the box office, with its first week expected to be crucial for hitting the Rs 250 crore milestone.
