A tragic and suspicious death has rocked Polsara in Ganjam district, where Sonali Behera, a final-year student of Polsara Science College, was found dead under mysterious circumstances.

Her family has alleged murder, prompting a police investigation.

According to reports, Sonali left her home in Balichhai village around 8:30 AM, saying she was heading to college. Shortly after, her mother Rinki Behera received a call from an unknown number claiming Sonali had committed suicide. The caller disconnected abruptly, raising immediate alarm.

Family members rushed to the college but couldn’t locate her. While returning, they were stopped near Chadiapada village by Chandan Sahu and his father Jitendra Sahu, who claimed Sonali had taken her own life inside their house. Upon reaching the spot, the family found Sonali’s body lying near a rock, deepening their suspicions.

Police from Polsara Station, along with a scientific team, arrived at the scene and sent the body for post-mortem. Chandan Sahu, his father, and two others have been detained for questioning. The autopsy report is awaited to determine the exact cause of death.

Station Officer Kaushik Majhi stated that the investigation will be expedited based on forensic findings and witness statements.
