In a major political endorsement ahead of the opposition’s national campaign, the youth-led Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has extended its support to the INDIA bloc’s upcoming November 1 rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan.
CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke took to social media platform X to back the demonstration, calling for the immediate resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar over alleged voter exclusion in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.
”GYANU MUST GO! The Cockroach Janta Party extends its support to the INDIA Bloc’s November 1 rally. Nation above all,” Dipke posted.
CJP Questions SIR Exercise and Voter Disfranchisement
In an official statement, the CJP asserted that constitutional institutions must protect universal adult suffrage rather than restrict citizen participation. The party argued that the SIR exercise has severely damaged public trust by threatening the inclusion of eligible voters on electoral rolls.
”The fundamental principle of democracy is that people get to choose their government, not that the government gets to choose its voters,” the CJP stated, alleging that the SIR exercise undermines democratic foundations.
Invoking the Legacy of Ambedkar and Nehru
Invoking the vision of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, the CJP highlighted that the architects of the Constitution granted universal adult franchise to bring citizens into the democratic fold.
”The idea was simple: bring more citizens into democracy, not keep them out of it,” the statement noted. “Our Constitution gave every adult citizen the right to vote. It is our responsibility to ensure that no eligible citizen is deprived of that right.”
Reiterating its demand for CEC Gyanesh Kumar’s removal to restore the Election Commission’s credibility, the outfit pledged support to all organizations fighting for free and fair elections, concluding its release with the slogans “Jai Bhim. Jai Hind.”
