In a high-stakes operation against Maoist insurgents in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district, security forces engaged in a fierce encounter, resulting in the martyrdom of a COBRA jawan and the elimination of a Maoist militant today.
The clash comes after the successful elimination of 27 Maoists in Narayanpur’s Abujhmad forests on Wednesday, prompting security forces to extend their campaign into Bijapur. Reports indicate that District Reserve Guard (DRG) forces have cornered a Maoist group, with intense gunfire continuing in the region.
Among the casualties, two jawans sustained injuries, with one tragically succumbing to wounds. Meanwhile, authorities confirmed the death of a Maoist combatant, marking another strategic victory in the ongoing crackdown against insurgency.
Speaking on the operation, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai commended the bravery of the personnel, stating, “The mission to eradicate Naxalite threats is progressing. Our forces continue to push forward with utmost determination.”
As DRG units press deeper into Maoist-occupied areas, intelligence reports suggest that top insurgent leaders may be hiding nearby, reinforcing security efforts across the region.
