The Parliamentary Estimates Committee, led by Dr. Sanjay Jaiswal, reviewed groundbreaking renewable energy initiatives under the PM-KUSUM and PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli schemes at the Sunmaster Agrivoltaics Plant at Issapur, Najafgarh, Delhi.

This field study highlighted India’s push toward dual land use through agrivoltaics technology, empowering farmers with solar power while ensuring food and energy security.

Shri Sudeep Jain, Additional Secretary, MNRE, elaborated on PM-KUSUM’s goals, emphasizing cleaner energy for agricultural activities. The delegation explored stilt-based agrivoltaic models and their land-use efficiency compared to traditional systems, underscoring the potential to enhance farmer incomes while optimizing resources.

Dr. Jaiswal and the committee interacted with local farmers, gaining valuable insights into the transformative impact of solar energy on rural livelihoods. The visit also included symbolic gestures of environmental commitment, with the members planting trees under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative.

Concluding the visit, Dr. Jaiswal advocated further exploration to scale the agrivoltaics model for broader rural applications, reflecting the government’s dedication to inclusive growth through renewable solutions.
