The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange and yellow warnings for various districts in Odisha as thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are expected to occur in the coming days.
A low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal has weakened, but the associated cyclonic circulation persists, bringing unstable weather to the region. Districts such as Koraput, Rayagada, Malkangiri, and Kandhamal are under an orange warning for the first day, with wind speeds reaching up to 60 km/h. Yellow warnings cover a broader range of districts throughout the week, with expected wind speeds of 30–50 km/h.
Despite the turbulent weather, maximum temperatures in the state are unlikely to see significant changes, with some regions like Bolangir and Sundargarh experiencing temperatures exceeding 40°C. Citizens are advised to take necessary precautions against potential impacts of thunderstorms, including strong winds and lightning.
