A Class 4 student sustained serious injuries after the headmaster of Karamtala Upper Primary School in Bolangir district allegedly beat him during school hours.
The incident occurred around 10 a.m. on Monday while students were playing. Kumud Ranjan Meher, the headmaster, reportedly struck six to seven students with a stick. Prahlad Rana, son of Pratap and Jyotsna Rana, suffered six blows to the head and body. His head injury caused heavy bleeding.
Family members rushed Prahlad to a local hospital for treatment. His father filed a written complaint at Saintala police station, demanding action against the headmaster.
Locals expressed outrage and called for a thorough investigation. Community leaders urged the Education Department to take disciplinary steps and ensure student safety.
The school incident has sparked widespread concern in the area. Parents and residents gathered outside the school, demanding accountability and justice for the injured child.
