Chandipur Beach in Odisha’s Balasore district is on track to receive a major eco-tourism boost, with a ₹11 crore revamp aimed at securing the prestigious Blue Flag certification — a global tag awarded to clean and environmentally sustainable beaches.
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, who also helms the state’s Tourism portfolio, conducted an aerial inspection of the site on Friday, emphasizing the beach’s untapped tourism potential. As part of the plan, ₹2 crore has already been allocated for initial development work.
“This is one of Odisha’s most beautiful beaches, blessed with natural beauty and nearby islands,” said Parida in an interview with OTV. “With the right infrastructure and eco-friendly amenities, Chandipur can become a major tourist magnet.”
What’s Planned:
- Blue Flag certification to mark the beach as eco-conscious and globally recognized
- Water sports facilities and eco-retreat camps for sustainable adventure tourism
- Promotion of destination weddings and beachfront events aligned with green tourism standards
- Development of shops and tourism infrastructure to attract visitors and boost the local economy
Parida reassured that the project wouldn’t get stuck in red tape. “I visited the site with local MLAs and officials to ensure clear communication and quick approvals. We’re committed to fast-tracking this transformation,” she affirmed.
The revamp of Chandipur Beach aligns with Odisha’s broader mission to enhance its tourism offerings while preserving its natural assets through sustainable, investor-friendly development.
