The Cuttack Development Authority (CDA) has unveiled a major initiative to transform a stretch of the Kathajodi riverbank near Baranga tehsil into an eco-friendly recreational zone.
Spanning approximately 200 acres, the project was recently approved by the CDA and has been submitted to the state government for final approval.
Officials confirmed that a detailed project report (DPR) will be crafted once the green light is received. All development activities will strictly follow environmental regulations set by the National Green Tribunal (NGT), along with guidelines from the Water Resources Department, Forest Department, and the State Pollution Control Board.
CDA Vice-Chairman Anam Charan Patra emphasized the agency’s commitment to environmental stewardship. Over 60% of the area will be reserved for plantations, while the rest will host public amenities like parks, open-air gyms, and playgrounds, ensuring a balance between conservation and community recreation.
Authorities reiterated that the beautification efforts would prioritize ecological preservation to protect the Kathajodi river ecosystem. The project aims not only to enhance the city’s green cover but also to create vibrant recreational spaces for residents and visitors.
