Bihar: A team of CBI officers investigating alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG and UGC-NET paper leak case was assaulted by locals in Bihar’s Nawada district, according to police reports on Sunday.
The assault occurred on Saturday as the officers arrived in the Rajauli area for their investigation. Considering the CBI team for impostors the villagers attacked them and vandalised their vehicle. Police have detained four individuals and confiscated mobile phones.
The CBI team comprised four officers, including a female constable from Nawada’s Town Police Station, led by an Inspector rank officer to Kasiyadih village in Rajauli.
An FIR was lodged by the CBI based on a referral from the Union Education Ministry after cancelling the UGC-NET exam, which was administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on Tuesday. Special teams have been dispatched to Gujurat and Bihar, where police have recorded instances of question paper leaks.
This CBI inquiry follows a government directive for a central investigation. The agency initiated the case on June 20 regarding the UGC-NET paper leak and began the probe on top priority. Meanwhile, 19 people have been allegedly arrested in the paper leak case till Sunday.
