A serious road accident injured more than ten people when a tourist bus collided head-on with a truck near Bhairavi Temple on National Highway 57 in Boudh district’s Purunakatak block. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported.
The bus, named Shiva Shankar, was heading towards Boudh when the collision occurred. Local residents and authorities rushed the injured passengers to Purunakatak Hospital for immediate treatment. Doctors confirmed that several victims sustained serious injuries but remain under medical care.
Eyewitnesses stated that the truck driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene moments after the crash. Police launched a manhunt to trace the absconding driver and began investigating the circumstances that led to the mishap.
The accident caused panic among commuters on the busy highway, disrupting traffic for hours. Authorities assured that strict measures will be taken to identify negligence and prevent similar incidents in the future.
