Police on Wednesday seized 270 grams of brown sugar near Hatiasuni, close to the water tank under Maitrivihar Police station and arrested five persons in this connection.
The accused persons have been identified as
- Muna Sethi (34), S/o- Rabi Sethi of vill- Gudubida, PS- Dasapalla, Dist- Nayagarh, At/pre- Khandagiribari, PS- Bharatapur, Dist- Khurda.(Main Peddler )
- Reka Pattanaik (35), S/o- Jayaram Pattanaik of vill- Darudipa, PS- Fategarh, Dist- Nayagarh, At/Pre- Khandagiribari, PS- Bharatapur, Dist- Khurda.
- Subrat Rout (26), S/o- Sridhar Rout of vill- Madanpur, PS- Rajnagar, Dist- Kendrapada, At/Pre- Khandagiribari, PS- Bharatapur, Dist- Khurda.
- Subrat Pattanaik (39), S/o- Rajendra Prasada Pattanaik of vill- Nirakarpur, PS- Nirakarpur, Dist- Khordha, At/pre- Pandapark, PS- Chandrasekharpur, Dist- Khurda.
- Tinku Mahanta (32), S/o- Surendra Mahanta of vill- Abgil, PS- Medni Chowk, Dist- Lakhisarai, Bihar, At/Pre- Tapobana Basti, PS- Bharatapur, Dist- Khurda.
The operation was carried out based on credible intelligence received regarding the illegal drug trade in the area.
During the operation, the following items were seized from the accused persons :
- 270 grams of brown sugar
- One Suzuki Ciaz car bearing Regd No- OD 02 CT 7412
- One Yamaha Scooty bearing Regd No- OD 33 AK 5684
- Four mobile phones
- Cash amounting to Rs 14,500
The apprehended individuals have been identified as habitual offenders involved in multiple drug-related cases. The seized contraband and other articles have been secured, and a detailed investigation is underway to uncover further links in the drug supply network.
