A shocking incident unfolded in Odisha’s Bolangir district when a newly married woman was abducted at gunpoint by her former lover while travelling to her in-laws’ house with her husband.
The groom had travelled from Kamakhi Nagar to Kantamal for the wedding ceremony. After the marriage was solemnised, he was returning to his native village with the bride and members of the wedding party.
Midway through the journey, the bride’s ex-lover, accompanied by associates, intercepted the vehicles. The accused allegedly brandished a firearm, threatened the groom and others, and forcibly took the bride away.
The groom and his companions stood helpless as the accused fled with the woman. Later, the groom approached the Tarbha police station and filed a complaint.
Police launched an investigation and began efforts to trace the accused and rescue the woman. Authorities are examining leads to identify the culprits and ensure the victim’s safety.
