A late-night party in Bolangir’s Rinbachan village ended in tragedy when a 25-year-old youth was beaten to death by his friends. The incident occurred on Friday night after a group of young men gathered to drink together.
According to reports, an argument broke out among the friends over sharing liquor pouches. The quarrel escalated, and the victim, identified as Deepak Naik, was allegedly dragged to a house and brutally assaulted. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Bolangir Sadar police recovered the body and detained seven individuals for interrogation. Police officials confirmed that the main accused, Durga Prasad Behera alias Ilu, was named in a written complaint filed by Deepak’s family. Investigators seized several items from the scene and are questioning those involved to establish the sequence of events.
Officer-in-Charge Raj Kumar Biswal stated that the accused are being held at the police station while inquiries continue. The murder has shocked the local community, with residents expressing concern over rising violence linked to alcohol consumption.
Deepak’s family has demanded strict action against those responsible. Police assured that the investigation will be thorough and that justice will be delivered.
