Tensions gripped the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) today following an alleged attack on Additional Commissioner Ratnakar Sahoo inside his office chamber.
The incident reportedly occurred during an official grievance hearing session at the BMC headquarters.
According to sources, the accused forcibly entered Sahoo’s chamber while the hearing was ongoing and assaulted him, leading to chaos within the premises. Immediate alerts were sent to the Kharvel Nagar Police Station, and law enforcement officials reached the scene shortly after.
Authorities have initiated a thorough investigation into the incident. CCTV footage from the BMC premises is being reviewed to identify the perpetrator(s) and determine the sequence of events. Officials stated that appropriate legal action will be taken based on the findings.
Following the incident, BMC staff staged a dharna outside the office, protesting the alleged manhandling of the Additional Commissioner.
