The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today launched its nationwide ‘Tiranga Yatra’, an 11-day campaign aimed at honouring the Indian Armed Forces and commemorating the success of Operation Sindoor, the recent military offensive against terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan-controlled territory.
The campaign, running from May 13 to May 23, is designed to foster national pride and unity, with a strong emphasis on the bravery and sacrifice of India’s soldiers. The yatra officially kicks off at 4 p.m. Tuesday, with events planned across cities, towns, and rural regions nationwide.
Party leaders said the initiative is meant to connect with citizens across communities, highlighting the military’s role in safeguarding national security and reaffirming respect for the Indian flag. BJP National President J.P. Nadda, along with senior leaders Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Sambit Patra, Vinod Tawde, and Tarun Chugh, are leading the coordination efforts at the national level.
During a strategic meeting held on Sunday, May 11, party leadership finalised the campaign’s roadmap, focusing on public outreach through bike rallies, flag-hoisting ceremonies, awareness events, and large public gatherings.
While the Tiranga Yatra is driven by the ruling party, sources within the BJP emphasized that it is intended to be non-partisan and rooted in patriotism. “This isn’t about politics. It’s about honouring our armed forces and uniting the nation behind them,” a senior party functionary said.
Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7 following the Pahalgam terror attack, has been described by the government as a decisive and successful military response. The BJP sees the Tiranga Yatra as a way to visibly express gratitude to the armed forces and reinforce the message of decisive leadership under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The campaign aims to ignite a wave of patriotic sentiment, with the Tricolour flying proudly across the country in tribute to India’s defenders.
