To mark the completion of its first year in office, the BJP government in Odisha, led by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, launched a new state-wide outreach programme titled ‘Vikas Vahan’ on Thursday.
The initiative was flagged off at Mahatma Gandhi Marg in Bhubaneswar, where specially-designed campaign vehicles were unveiled.
The Vikas Vahan vans will travel across all 314 blocks, 115 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), and five municipal corporations in the state. The goal is to spread awareness about government welfare schemes and the BJP-led administration’s achievements over the past year, especially in remote and underserved areas.
These mobile units, equipped with audio-visual materials and staffed with trained personnel, are designed to visit every panchayat, offering direct engagement with the public. The government hopes the campaign will bridge the information gap, promote transparency, and encourage citizen participation in development initiatives.
Officials said the initiative reflects the BJP’s commitment to inclusive governance and marks a key milestone in its mission to build public trust through grassroots communication and visible accountability.
