The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is preparing to announce its candidate for the upcoming Nuapada by-election. Vijay Pal Singh Tomar, the party in-charge for Odisha, expressed confidence that the BJP will secure a victory.
Tomar confirmed that the candidate selection process is underway. The party’s core committee meeting is scheduled for October 9, where final discussions on the candidate are expected. When asked about speculation around Manmohan Samal’s name, Tomar said multiple names are being considered.
BJP Core Committee Meeting
The meeting will be chaired by the state president and attended by two in-charges along with other committee members. National BJP leaders, including V. Satish and B.L. Santosh, are touring Odisha and will participate in the discussions. The meeting is expected to finalize the probable candidate and review the party’s organisational strategies.
Training Camp for Tribal MLAs and MPs
In a separate initiative, the BJP state office will host a training camp for tribal MLAs and MPs. Chief Minister Mohan Majhi and all tribal representatives are expected to participate. The camp, led by national leaders Santosh and Satish, will focus on skill development and constituency management.
As part of this initiative, each MLA and MP will adopt 20 to 25 villages as ‘model villages’ to strengthen constituency development. Tomar emphasized that the training and discussions reflect the BJP’s strategy to enhance organisational outreach and ensure preparation ahead of the by-election.
