The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has officially kicked off its preparations for the upcoming assembly elections in Bihar, West Bengal, and Tamil Nadu by appointing senior leaders as election in-charges.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will spearhead the campaign in Bihar, a politically significant state where the BJP is the senior-most ally in the NDA coalition. He will be supported by Jal Shakti Minister CR Paatil and Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya as co-in-charges.

In West Bengal, Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav, known for his strategic acumen and electoral successes, has been named the in-charge. Former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb will assist him in shaping the party’s outreach and mobilization efforts.

For Tamil Nadu, BJP National Vice President Baijayant Panda has been entrusted with the responsibility of leading the campaign. He will be joined by Murlidhar Mohol, Minister of State for Civil Aviation, as co-in-charge. Panda has previously served as the election in-charge for Delhi, Assam, and Uttar Pradesh, bringing valuable organizational experience to the southern state where BJP seeks to expand its footprint.

The elections are expected to be held in phases: Bihar in November 2025, West Bengal around March 2026, and Tamil Nadu in April–May 2026. The BJP aims to retain its influence in Bihar under the leadership of CM Nitish Kumar (JDU), make significant gains in Bengal, and emerge as a serious contender in Tamil Nadu, where it currently holds limited sway.
