Bargarh: BJP leader and party candidate for the by-election to Padmapur assembly constituency Pradip Purohit on Friday accused the BJD of interfering in Congress election affair in order to gain Opposition party’s votes.
He alleged that ruling party in Odisha is selecting the candidate for Congress party even though both are fighting the by-poll against each other. By this formula, BJD has eyed the divided votes of Congress party. Congress had sold 10000 votes during previous elections. But, citizens of Padampur are well aware of this and won’t repeat the mistake this time,” Purohit alleged.
Earlier in the day, BJP named Purohit, a former MLA, as the party nominee for the ensuing by-poll. It was announced by party MLA Kusum Tete
Leader of Opposition and veteran party leader Jayanarayan Mishra informed that the BJP candidate will file nomination for the bypoll on November 14. Some senior leaders will remain present during filing of nomination.
It is pertinent to mention that the voting for the bypoll will be held on December 5 while results are scheduled to be declared on December 8.
The last date for filing of nomination is November 17 while scruity will be held on November 18. Candidates can withdraw their papers by November 21.
The death of sitting MLA Bijay Ranjan Singhbariha necessitated the re-election to the constituency. He was working as the district president of BJD in Bargarh.
