Chandili police successfully dismantled a bike theft gang in Rayagada district, arresting three individuals, including a minor, and recovering six stolen motorcycles.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Bijaya Kumar Mandia Sahu of Jadaba village under Koraput’s Bandhugaon police limits and Haresh Khamari from the Rani Guda farm area of Rayagada. Acting on a complaint filed by Ramesh Kotapeta, Chandili police launched an investigation. Ramesh had reported his bike stolen on March 26 while he was bathing near the Nagabali River. Upon his return, he found the bike missing and immediately reported the theft to the authorities.
The police acted promptly, successfully apprehending the accused and recovering the stolen motorcycles. The minor involved has been sent to a juvenile correctional facility, while the other two accused have been presented to the court. Chandili IIC Prasanna Kumar Behera confirmed that further investigations are underway to uncover more details about the gang’s activities.
