A woman from Bhubaneswar, Odisha, was found dead under suspicious circumstances in Hyderabad’s Kompally area on Thursday night. Her family has alleged that she was raped and murdered and has demanded a thorough and impartial investigation.
According to police sources, the victim, originally from Bharatpur in Bhubaneswar, had been living in Hyderabad with her husband and their four-year-old son for the past six months. The family was staying in the staff quarters of a private construction company in Kompally, where her husband was employed in the electronic maintenance division. The woman also taught the children of other workers at the site.
Last Saturday, her husband reportedly travelled to Bhubaneswar with their son to correct a passport discrepancy before joining a new job in Dubai. While he was away, he received a late-night call from a co-worker on Wednesday, informing him that his wife had suddenly fallen ill. Upon reaching Hyderabad the next morning, he learned that his wife had died under mysterious circumstances.
Family Raises Serious Allegations
The woman’s family has filed a complaint with the Pet-Basheerabad police, claiming she was sexually assaulted and murdered. They have also approached the Khordha district administration in Odisha, urging authorities to ensure an impartial probe.
Her mother alleged that an unidentified man entered the victim’s quarters on Thursday night and hid under her bed before assaulting her.
“Neighbours saw the man, who appeared drunk, leaving the quarters soon after,” she claimed. The family further accused the company management of attempting to cover up the incident by portraying it as a suicide.
The mother added that she had spoken to her daughter shortly before the alleged incident and noticed no signs of distress or suicidal tendencies.
Pet-Basheerabad police have registered a case and launched a detailed investigation. Forensic teams have collected evidence from the site, and the body has been sent for post-mortem examination. Officials said all possible angles—including sexual assault and homicide—are being investigated.
