Dinesh Nayak, alias Dinabandhu, surrendered before police at Jagatsinghpur police station on Tuesday evening, ending two days of search in the Niladri Vihar murder case in Bhubaneswar.
Chandrasekharpur police immediately reached Jagatsinghpur to take custody of the accused and bring him to Bhubaneswar for interrogation. The case involves the murder of 27-year-old Satyabrata Pradhan, who was allegedly attacked late Sunday night in Niladri Vihar.
Satyabrata, a driver from Hasinipur village in Puri district, visited the rented house of Liza Kandi, aged 21, after 11.30 pm. Police said Dinesh was already present when Satyabrata arrived. An argument broke out, and Dinesh allegedly attacked Satyabrata with a sharp weapon, slitting his throat.
Satyabrata ran towards the main road, where locals tried to help him. He was rushed to Capital Hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival. Police detained Liza for questioning, suspecting the incident stemmed from a love triangle.
After the attack, Dinesh fled the scene. His surrender on Tuesday evening marked a major development in the case. Police confirmed they will produce him before the court after questioning.
