In a gesture that transcended political boundaries, Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi met Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik on Saturday.
Sharing details of the meeting on X (formerly Twitter), Sarangi described the interaction as a “lovely meeting indeed.” She said the visit was marked by warmth, mutual respect, and fond memories of the past.
“We paid our respects and enquired about his health. It was heartening to see him recall several old events with affection. The meeting was filled with warmth and laughter,” she wrote.
Respect Beyond Politics
The cordial interaction between the two leaders reflected a rare sense of goodwill that went beyond political rivalry. Sarangi also sought the veteran leader’s blessings during the meeting.
She was accompanied by her husband, Santosh Kumar Sarangi, who currently serves as Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India.
Political observers have noted that such meetings, marked by respect and nostalgia, showcase the human side of politics—where mutual regard takes precedence over party lines.
