A large-scale city beautification drive was conducted at the CRP Square Flyover underpass in Bhubaneswar, as part of the ongoing Swachh Bhubaneswar initiative.
The campaign focused on plantation and greening efforts to improve the urban landscape while reinforcing the city’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
Focus on Plantation and Urban Greening
The initiative was organised under the nationwide “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, which encourages citizens and institutions to plant trees in honour of mothers. The CRP Square underpass was selected as a key site to enhance greenery in high-traffic urban infrastructure zones, aiming to create a cleaner, greener, and more visually appealing environment.
Participation of Civic Leaders and Officials
The event witnessed active participation from senior officials of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, including the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Standing Committee Chairperson, Zonal Commissioner, Deputy Commissioners, and local corporators. Their presence highlighted the administration’s collective push toward sustainable urban development.
Boost to Swachh Bhubaneswar Mission
This plantation drive aligns with the broader goals of the #SwachhBhubaneswar campaign, which focuses on cleanliness, green cover expansion, and citizen engagement. By transforming underutilised spaces like flyover underpasses into green zones, the initiative aims to improve both environmental health and public perception of city spaces.
Towards a Greener Urban Future
Officials emphasised that such drives not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of public infrastructure but also contribute to long-term ecological balance. The campaign is expected to inspire more community participation in tree plantation and urban sustainability efforts across the city.
