In a swift and cinematic-style police operation, the Bhubaneswar Commissionerate Police has cracked a high-profile kidnapping case within just 24 hours.
A young man from Rourkela, identified as Amandeep Dumdum, was dramatically abducted from Bhubaneswar Railway Station and later rescued from Jatni. Four accused have been arrested, while the mastermind remains at large.
According to police sources, Dumdum was at the railway station with his friends when the kidnappers, acting on the instructions of a mastermind, arrived in a car and forcibly took him away to Jatni. The abductors demanded a ransom of ₹15 lakh for his safe release.
Dumdum’s friends immediately lodged a complaint at Kharavel Nagar Police Station, prompting a rapid investigation. Acting on swift intelligence, the police team rescued the youth and arrested four suspects. The car used in the crime, bearing Odisha registration number OD-09-N-1672, has been seized.
The Commissionerate Police confirmed that the abduction does not appear to stem from any prior enmity or dispute, though investigations are continuing to establish the exact motive. Efforts to nab the mastermind are underway.
