The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has kicked off preparations for the much-awaited first Patha Utsav of the 2025-2026 season, scheduled for January 4, 2026.
This popular street festival will transform the stretch from Master Canteen Square to Ram Mandir Chhak on Janpath into a car-free zone brimming with cultural performances, fitness activities, and family fun.
The event will run throughout the day, starting from 6:30 AM and continuing until around 9:30 AM for the main programs, allowing residents to enjoy the crisp winter morning.
BMC officials have emphasised that the festival aims to celebrate Odisha’s rich heritage and culture while providing a refreshing break from daily routines.
Highlighting the star attractions, renowned Odia singer Antara Chakraborty will enchant audiences with her melodious voice, while popular comedian Papu Pom Pom is set to deliver side-splitting comedy acts that promise to leave everyone in stitches.
Beyond the celebrity performances, the festival will feature a diverse lineup including yoga sessions, Zumba dances, rangoli competitions, painting, skating, traditional Odia folk dances and songs, and a dedicated Kids Kingdom with face painting and play areas. Food enthusiasts can savor a variety of local delicacies at the food bazaar.
A special “Bhubaneswar Got Talent” platform will encourage hidden talents among residents to showcase skills in dance, singing, mimicry, and mono-acting, open to all ages and genders.
To build excitement, BMC launched a promotional vehicle on Tuesday, flagged off by Mayor Sulochana Das, Commissioner Chanchal Rana, and other officials in the presence of Standing Committee members.
Mayor Das urged citizens to participate, noting that such events recharge energy and inspire better productivity. “Step out of your busy lives and join this entertaining program—it will motivate you for the days ahead,” she said.
Following the January 4 event, subsequent Patha Utsavs are planned for January 18 on the Nua-Jagamara-Baramunda road and February 1 at Infocity.
With new elements added this year and expectations of thousands attending, the BMC invites all Bhubaneswar residents to embrace the festive spirit and make the winter mornings memorable.
