To preserve cultural sanctity and reduce environmental hazards, the Bhubaneswar Police have announced a ban on DJs, firecrackers, and laser lights during Durga Puja idol immersion processions.
The decision was finalized during a preparatory meeting held at Police Seva Bhawan, attended by senior officials and puja committee members.
Only traditional instruments will be permitted during the processions, with authorities emphasizing the need to minimize noise pollution and maintain public safety. Police Commissioner S. Dev Datta Singh, Additional Commissioner Narasingha Bhol, and DCP Jagmohan Meena were present at the meeting, alongside Bhubaneswar Ekamra MLA Babu Singh.
Puja committees across the city have been instructed to strictly follow the new guidelines. The move is seen as a step toward restoring the spiritual essence of the festival while ensuring a peaceful and eco-friendly celebration.
