A young man was brutally killed in Bhadrak district late Sunday night after being lured out of his home while watching the India cricket T20 final.
The deceased, identified as Srikumar Swami of Charampa Railway Colony, was attacked by a group of five miscreants at Gunthunia village under Sadar police station.
Reports state that Srikumar received a phone call while watching the match at home. He stepped out and went to Gunthunia market, where the group assaulted him with sharp weapons. Despite locals being present, no one intervened during the attack.
Witnesses rushed Srikumar to Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital. Doctors declared him dead upon arrival. The killing shocked the community, especially as it unfolded during a high-profile cricket match.
Police seized the body and launched an investigation. Authorities suspect the attackers were involved in previous criminal incidents. Officers are working to identify the culprits and determine the motive behind the murder.
