A nurse working at Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital, identified as Santoshi Mallick, attempted suicide after reportedly facing severe harassment and blackmail from a doctor and other staff members.
Mallick was rescued by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) after she jumped in front of a speeding train. She is currently undergoing critical treatment for severe head injuries.
Eyewitnesses stated that Santoshi Mallick had left her workplace around 16:00, heading to the railway station, where she attempted to end her life. Her husband alleged that she was subjected to constant mistreatment, including being denied access to basic facilities like washrooms at work.
Authorities have yet to comment on the disturbing allegations, and investigations are ongoing into the case.
