Berhampur SP Shravan Vivek revealed chilling details in the Pitabas Panda murder case, exposing a ₹50 lakh contract and deep political involvement.
Shooter Chintu Pradhan arrived from Bengaluru and stayed in a rented house just 200 meters from Pitabas Panda’s residence. After a failed attempt, he executed the murder on October 6. He and accomplice Kurupati Bhuyan wore new clothes and shoes, approached Panda on a bike, greeted him, and opened fire. Chintu drove while Kurupati fired the shots.
After the killing, the duo changed clothes in Sitalapalli and fled through Purushottampur to Rameswaram. They abandoned the vehicle and escaped to Puri.
SP Vivek confirmed that the murder conspiracy was planned between September 10 and 14. Anti-social figure Uma Bishoyi brought four shooters from Bihar. They stayed at Shunya Chandra Das’s house, arranged by corporator Malay Bishoyi. Malay claimed they were in town for medical reasons. Only Das suspected their intentions but remained silent due to Malay’s influence.
The shooter received ₹10 lakh in advance. Bikram Panda and Pintu Das allegedly orchestrated the plot through Malay Bishoyi and Madan Dalei. Uma Bishoyi held the remaining funds. Pintu Das has 38 criminal cases registered against him. Police found evidence linking Bikram Panda to the conspiracy.
So far, police have arrested 12 individuals. Three suspects remain absconding. Investigators continue to pursue leads to uncover the full extent of the plot.
This revelation marks a turning point in the Pitabas Panda murder case. Authorities believe the motive stemmed from political rivalry and financial disputes.
