Balasore: Prasanta Kumar Das, former Secretary of Balasore Urban Co-operative Bank Ltd. has been sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment of two years in a vigilance corruption case.
Das was charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) PC Act 1988, for showing undue favour to the land owners in the purchase of Ac 0.182 dec. land at a rate much higher than the Govt. benchmark valuation, for which the said Bank sustained a huge loss of Rs.64,16,776/-, was convicted by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Balasore and sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 2 years and fine.
Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for the dismissal of Das from service following his conviction.
