Balasore police arrested two notorious criminals during a decisive operation in the district’s industrial area on Wednesday.
Officers seized a pistol, one magazine, and two knives from the accused.
The arrested men have been identified as Kailash Das, alias Kuan, and Animesh Ghosh. Both are known for their involvement in multiple criminal cases across Balasore. Superintendent of Police Pratyush Diwaker confirmed that Ghosh faces 32 registered cases, while Das has more than 25. They stand accused of serious crimes, including murder, attempted murder, extortion, and threatening businessmen for protection money.
A special police team comprising senior officers carried out the arrests after receiving intelligence that the duo was entering Balasore from another state to commit criminal activities. Acting on precise information, the team tracked and apprehended them early Wednesday morning in the industrial area.
SP Diwaker stated that both accused will be forwarded to court. Investigators are now probing their network, associates, gang members, and financiers. The police aim to dismantle the entire gang and eliminate its influence in the district.
The operation has been hailed as a significant step in curbing organised crime in Balasore. Authorities promised continued action against criminal networks and assured residents that law enforcement remains committed to restoring safety and order.
