A shocking incident unfolded in the Ghasipura area of Keonjhar district when a youth vandalized a State Bank of India ATM with a hammer.

The frustration behind this action stemmed from an unexpected deduction of Rs 118 from his bank account. The bold act, which occurred in broad daylight near the local police station, left residents and passersby stunned.

According to eyewitnesses, the youth forcefully broke the ATM’s screen and glass panels within minutes. During the act, shards of broken glass injured the youth. Promptly, police rushed to the scene, detained him, and provided necessary medical attention.

Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the deduction and the motive behind the act. The incident has raised concerns among locals regarding the security of banking infrastructure, especially given its proximity to a police station. The vandalized ATM is now out of service, and efforts are underway to restore normalcy.
