The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has lodged a formal complaint with match referee Andy Pycroft against Pakistan’s Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan, accusing them of making provocative and indecent gestures during the high-voltage Asia Cup 2025 Super Four clash against India.
BCCI has also submitted video evidence of the incidents, demanding “strict action” against both players.
According to reports, Haris Rauf allegedly made multiple gestures in response to the “Kohli, Kohli” chants from Indian fans, including mimicking a fighter jet and flashing a controversial ‘6-0’ sign—seen as propaganda linked to false claims about India’s Air Force losses during Operation Sindoor.
Farhan, meanwhile, drew criticism for his gun-firing celebration after completing his half-century.
A BCCI official said:
“Such on-field behaviour is against the spirit of the game. We have lodged a complaint with Andy Pycroft and attached videos as evidence. We demand strict action.”
The incident sparked outrage among Indian fans and players, with reports claiming that Haris Rauf also engaged in verbal clashes with Indian batters Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill during their partnership.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not issued an official statement, while Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi, when asked about the controversy, said:
“Our job is to play cricket. People can think what they want. We are here to win the Asia Cup and will do our best to fulfil Pakistan’s hopes.”
India and Pakistan could meet again in the Asia Cup 2025 final, depending on the outcome of their remaining Super Four fixtures.
