Apollo Green Energy Ltd has unveiled plans to invest Rs 4,500 crore in Odisha, advancing the state’s renewable energy infrastructure with a 1,000 MW solar power project.

The move, announced in a high-level meeting chaired by Odisha’s Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister KV Singh Deo, aligns with India’s Clean and Green mission and is set to generate 3,000 direct and indirect jobs across various skill levels.

The investment will not only boost Odisha’s solar energy capacity but also integrate battery storage systems, allowing surplus electricity to be stored and used efficiently during peak hours. Apollo Green Energy is already constructing a 54 MWp solar plant in Ganjam district, marking the beginning of its ambitious renewable energy expansion.

Odisha has been actively securing investments in manufacturing and renewable sectors, with commitments exceeding Rs 14.47 lakh crore in 2025, generating more than 9 lakh jobs. The government’s support for green energy initiatives is expected to position the state as a key industrial hub while also contributing to India’s carbon emission reduction goals.

With key stakeholders backing the project—including Odisha’s Principal Energy Secretary Vishal Dev, OPTCL CMD Bhaskar Jyoti Sharma, GRIDCO MD Trilochan Panda, and Apollo’s leadership team—the renewable energy push is expected to accelerate Odisha’s shift toward sustainable development.
