Veteran music composer and singer Anu Malik has recently addressed persistent rumors of a strained relationship with his brothers, Daboo Malik and Abu Malik, and their children, including singer-composer duo Armaan and Amaal Mallik.
In a new interview, he refuted the claims, stating that the family remains a unified front.
Anu Malik’s Statement on Family Bond
Speaking to Instant Bollywood, Anu Malik was emphatic about his strong family ties. He described his brothers, Daboo and Abu Malik, as his “jigar ke tukde,” which translates to “pieces of my heart.” He extended this affection to his nephews, Armaan and Amaal Mallik, calling them “woh humari jaan hai aur hamesha jaan rahenge” (“they are our life and will always remain our life”).
He also provided a unique perspective on the family’s perceived temper, calling it a “Malik trait.” “Gussa mohabbat ka hota hai” (“anger is born of love”), he said, clarifying that what may seem like anger to outsiders is a display of their deep affection for one another. He concluded by asserting, “Hum log ek the, ek hai, aur ek rahenge” (“We were one, we are one, and we will always remain one”).
Amaal Mallik’s Past Revelations
Anu Malik’s comments come after his nephew Amaal Mallik had previously spoken candidly about a professional rivalry within the family. In a past interaction with Siddharth Kannan, Amaal had revealed that while his father Daboo and uncle Anu were close on a personal level, their professional relationship was marked by “jealousy” and an “overly competitive” spirit from Anu’s side.
Amaal had alleged that Anu Malik frequently tried to sabotage his father’s career by offering to work for free or for very little money to snatch film projects away. This behavior, Amaal claimed, contributed to his father’s struggle with depression for many years. He also stated that Anu’s competitive streak extended to him as well, with his uncle often jumping into projects that Amaal had announced. Amaal, who is currently a contestant on Bigg Boss 19, has publicly spoken about his struggles with depression and past family issues.
