In a high-level secretaries’ meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Anu Garg at the conference hall in Kharabela Bhawan today, discussions centred on the effective implementation of the two-year action plan aimed at achieving Odisha’s Vision 2036 and 2047.
The meeting emphasised regular reviews and simplification of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure progress toward these long-term development goals.
Chief Secretary Garg advised all departments to prioritise the vision document as part of the Chief Minister’s 15-point agenda, urging regular monitoring to realise Odisha’s ambitious targets. The session also highlighted the “36 for 36” initiative, focusing on balanced and timely development across each district, with special attention to major projects.
A key agenda item was addressing vacancies in various departments. Garg stressed the importance of expediting recruitment processes, noting that the Chief Minister has consistently emphasised filling these posts. The state government aims to provide 65,000 jobs by June 2026. Since the formation of the new government, 39,500 appointments have already been made through departmental processes and job fairs. Over the next three months, an additional 34,641 vacancies are set to be filled, with requisitions sent to bodies like the Odisha Public Service Commission, Odisha Staff Selection Commission, and Odisha Subordinate Staff Selection Commission.
The Finance Department’s Principal Secretary discussed challenges and solutions related to recruitment across departments. Garg directed all departments to accelerate the process through regular reviews and necessary steps, while also planning for further recruitments in the coming year. Departments were instructed to send regular updates to the General Administration and Public Grievance Department.
The meeting also reviewed budget utilisation for 2025-26, aiming to complete expenditures by March and achieve revenue collection targets. Additionally, departments were advised to carefully consider and implement suggestions, proposals, and projects from MPs and MLAs, ensuring proper follow-up on their execution.
Among the attendees were Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary Deoranjan Kumar Singh, along with Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, and Commissioner-cum-Secretaries from various departments, who actively participated in the discussions.
