The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated the formation of a fresh low-pressure area over the northern Bay of Bengal around July 24, which could bring renewed rainfall activity across eastern India, especially Odisha and West Bengal.
According to weather experts, the system is expected to develop due to upper air cyclonic circulation, enhancing moisture inflow and cloud formation over the region. If the system intensifies, it may lead to moderate to heavy rainfall in coastal and interior districts of Odisha.
This development comes amid a fluctuating monsoon pattern, with intermittent dry spells and localised showers. Farmers and residents are advised to stay updated with official forecasts and take necessary precautions.
The IMD will continue to monitor the system’s progression and issue alerts as needed. Authorities are preparing for potential waterlogging and localised flooding in low-lying areas.
