In a distressing incident mirroring a recent case in Chitrakonda, a Class 10 girl from Bari block in Jajpur district delivered a baby girl at Bari Hospital. The student was later transferred to Jajpur for advanced medical care.
This event follows closely on the heels of a similar occurrence where a Class 10 student gave birth in the hostel of a government-run residential girls’ high school in Chitrakonda, Malkangiri district.
In that case, the 15-year-old delivered her baby after returning from her board examination. The headmaster of the Chitrakonda school has since been suspended, and a local youth has been arrested in connection with the incident.
These consecutive incidents have raised serious concerns about the safety and well-being of female students in residential schools across Odisha. Authorities are being urged to conduct thorough investigations and implement stringent measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.
