The Ganjam district administration announced a three-day holiday for all schools from April 21 to 23 due to prevailing heatwave conditions.
The order covers all educational institutions, including kindergartens and classes up to Grade 12. Officials confirmed that the decision aims to protect students from extreme temperatures affecting the region. Supplementary examinations for Grades 5 and 8 will continue as scheduled.
District authorities reviewed weather reports before issuing the directive. The administration stated that the temporary closure will help prevent health risks among children and teaching staff. Schools will resume regular classes after April 23 once conditions improve.
Parents and teachers welcomed the decision, citing relief for students who have struggled with soaring daytime temperatures. The administration also advised schools to ensure adequate hydration and safety measures once classes reopen.
