Bhubaneswar: In the first phase 500 advanced fire-resistant suits were provided to Odisha firemen to deal with extreme temperatures. The other firemen will get the suits in a phased manner.
Official sources said that the advanced suit’s material will protect the firemen from heat and burn and increase their efficiency while fighting fire.
The sources said the advanced fire suits could withstand 800 degree Celsius for 10 to 20 seconds. The fire personnel of Odisha will be provided with gumboots, fire fighting and breathing apparatus and other essential equipment to perform their duty efficiently.
The official sources said the Odisha fire brigade personnel will be trained to act as a disaster response force at the time of calamities. They will be equipped to deal with poisonous gas leakage, the sources said.
