Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, organized a week-long initiative aimed at promoting menstrual hygiene and adolescent health in rural communities. The program reached over 18 schools in Jamkhani, Kuraloi, and Ghogharpalli, benefiting more than 1,100 students from grades 6 to 10.
The initiative was designed to foster open dialogue and raise awareness about personal health and well-being. It featured interactive learning sessions and distributed gender-sensitization materials, such as heat bags and ‘Menstrupedia’ educational booklets. The sessions saw active participation from Vedanta’s employee volunteers and were focused on educating students about puberty, physical changes, and the importance of early health awareness.
Highlighting the program’s impact, Rajiv Kumar, CEO of Vedanta Aluminium, stated, “Promoting community health and hygiene is essential for building a healthier and more equitable society. Through continued and inclusive efforts, we aim to empower women and adolescents with the knowledge and resources they need to manage their health with dignity. This initiative reflects our deep-rooted commitment to uplifting communities through education and awareness.”
