The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has officially distanced itself from the opposition INDIA bloc, with Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh stating that his party will not participate in the coordination meeting called to discuss controversies surrounding the Election Commission.
Singh emphasised that since the AAP is no longer part of the alliance—having exited following the 2024 Lok Sabha elections—the question of attending the huddle does not arise.
Despite skipping the collaborative session, Singh affirmed that the AAP strongly supports the impeachment motion against CEC Gyanesh Kumar and continues to fight the poll body’s shortcomings “from the streets to Parliament.”
Singh raised concerns over electoral integrity, pointing out that 27 lakh voters in West Bengal were allegedly denied their voting rights. He also criticised the slow pace of tribunal hearings, noting that clearing pending cases could take up to 12 years.
Furthermore, Singh alleged that 13.37 cr names had been unlawfully deleted nationwide and slammed modifications made to Form 6 as unconstitutional.
While skipping the opposition gathering, Singh urged broad-based support for an upcoming CJP protest concerning electoral rights.
