Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday recalled the historic 2016 surgical strikes carried out by the Indian Army across the Line of Control (LoC), asserting that India has demonstrated an unyielding resolve to respond decisively to cross-border terrorism.
Speaking during the 138th episode of his monthly radio broadcast Mann Ki Baat, the Prime Minister noted that the surgical strikes are set to mark their 10th anniversary, having been conducted on September 28–29, 2016, in the aftermath of the tragic terror attack on an Army camp in Uri.
Describing the operation as a major historical achievement, PM Modi stated that the international community was left stunned by the precision and boldness of the Indian armed forces.
“The world was astonished by the manner in which our brave soldiers crossed the Line of Control (LoC) to take action against terrorism,” he remarked. Highlighting the shift in national security paradigms, he added, “The surgical strike boldly demonstrated a new example of India’s counter-terrorism policy to the entire world. It served as our decisive response to the long-standing suffering India had endured due to terrorist attacks.”
Reiterating India’s firm stance, the Prime Minister emphasised that the nation strictly follows a policy of zero tolerance against terrorism. He noted that over the past decade, India’s strategic posture has continually evolved to establish robust deterrence.
Citing subsequent major security actions—from the Balakot airstrike to Operation Sindoor—PM Modi underscored that India has repeatedly delivered a clear and unmistakable message: any hostile attempts targeting the nation will be met with a powerful, calculated, and befitting response.
