Heavy rain lashed several parts of Nuapada district on Wednesday, recording a combined total of 226.2 mm of rainfall across its five rain gauge stations, according to official reports.
Among the regional reporting centres, Komna block registered the highest rainfall in the district at 67 mm. It was followed by Boden, which recorded 52 mm, and Khadial at 46 mm. Meanwhile, Sinapali and Nuapada block headquarters recorded 37 mm and 24.2 mm of rainfall, respectively.
The persistent downpour severely impacted normal life and vehicular movement across the district. Inundation was reported in several low-lying areas, causing waterlogging in residential blocks and overflowing onto key roads.
Local farmers have also expressed concerns as significant portions of agricultural land remain submerged, threatening standing crops if the waterlogging continues over the next few days. Authorities are keeping a close watch on the weather situation across all five blocks.
